After the twenty-first day he saw a bright light, which wrapped him in the sky. It is to have received the Reiki inauguration from the universe. The following morning it pushed its foot to a stone, so that the foot bled. When Usui put its hands on the wound, the bleeding had been stopped. On the same day Usui successfully treated the toothache of a woman. Thus Usui began to observe and then  the phenomenon of Reiki in practice.

 

Since then Reiki is passed on from the teacher to the pupil by inauguration. Mikao Usui dedicated among other things Chujiro Hayashi as a Reiki master, to masters is as training qualified to be understood here. The third degree is often divided today into two parts: Master degree and teacher degree. Originally it concerned however only a degree. Today it thus quite gives Reiki master, who is not Reiki teachers. Each Reiki teacher is however at the same time also Reiki master.

 

The teacher degree, also fourth degree mentioned, contains the knowledge around the inauguration rituals and enables to initiate other humans in Reiki. The training as the teacher usually takes up until two years, in order to develop appropriate didactical abilities.

 

The teacher degree differs from the other degrees in principle in the fact that a further inauguration is not here always given. Some Reiki teachers give however also during the inauguration to the Reiki teacher to three inaugurations. Apart from the descriptive traditional system after Mikao Usui meanwhile also further schools developed, which divided the training as the Reiki teacher in further degrees and inaugurations or with other systems to have mixed.

 

On alterations of the system one cannot possibly speak no more of Reiki. Mikao Usui closed and completely called its Reiki system in itself. Usui and Takata pointed out again and again that Reiki in its nature content may not be changed.

 

For Reiki treatments and Reiki training there is no firm regulation of charges. The remuneration is negotiated therefore directly with that Reiki practicing. The costs can be very different, depending upon who offered and kind of the training.

 

The costs of a Reiki treatment are for instance with those to a conventional Massage, go occasionally in addition, far beyond that.
